Die Pfarrkirche
Die Pfarrkirche, 1910/1911 im rheinisch-romanischen Stil erbaut, thront oberhalb der Burg auf einem felsigen Bergrücken. Sehr interessant wirken die prächtigen Doppeltürme mit der pyrami-dalen Bedachung. Auf der vorderseitigen Giebelspitze ragt eine in Stein gehauene Kreuzigungsszene hervor. Auch das Innere der Kirche birgt vielfache Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Vorderseite des Chores ist prunktvoll mit Marmor- und Mosaiksteinen ausgeschmückt. Die Altäre, die Kreuzwegstationen und die Kanzel, aus Stein gemeißelt, sind Originalkunstwerke des bekannten Kirchenbildhauers Piedboeuf aus Aachen.
L'Eglise Décanale
De style roman-rhénan, elle date des années 1910-1912. Elle est la concrétisation des méditations, des recherches et même des souvenirs de voyages d'un homme très cultivé, maire remarquable: - Emile Prum - qui sut choisir une ambiance; équilibrer des masses (entre château et monastère), harmoniser des formes; et découvrir des réalisateurs de marque pour une oeuvre transcendante dans son ensemble, et délicatement fignolée dans les détails. Impressionnantes, sans prétention, mais élégantes et hardies! les deux grandes flèches qui encadrent la façade, dressant haut vers le ciel leur toits pyramidaux-losanges; affirmant - en doubles bandes superposées sur les quatre faces, des séries de hautes fenêtres de style - leur noblesse romane. Le pignon de la façade encadrée porte, ciselée dans la pierre immaculée, une saisissante représentation de la crucifixion, réalisée par le maître Piedboeuf d'Aix-la-Chapelle. Deux tourelles, en sentinelles de deux grandes, portent à hauteur d'homme et du portail, les images, en mosaïques dorées et multicolores, des Saints Côme et Damien, patrons du sanctuaire. Malgré l'austérité des piliers, de leurs chapitaux et des voûtes romanes, l'intérieur de l'édifice n'a rien à envier au dehors. L'abside est entièrement revêtue de marbre veiné, et sa coupole somptueusement décorée de tableaux artistiques en mosaïques scintillantes. Les Autels, la Table de Communion, la Chaire, les stations du Chemin de Croix, sont des chefs-d'oeuvre de sculpture de Piedboeuf.
The Parish Church
The parish church built in 1910/1911 is of Rhenan-Romanesque style. It is situated slightly above the castle on a rocky mountain-ridge. It is the work of Emile Prum, a former gifted and remarkable mayor of Clervaux. He succeeded in creating an impressive structure harmoniously fitted in with the massive architectures of the castle and the Benedictine abbey and therefore perfectly blended into the overall landscape of the town. The twin church spires with their pyramidal diamond-shaped roofs are both impressive and elegant. The windows of the spires and the various arches underline the Romanesque character of the edifice. The gable of the facade shows a striking stone-engraved representation of the Crucifixion by the master Piedboeuf of Aachen. Two smaller turrets carry at the height of the portal two representations in gold and color mosaic of Saint Come and Saint Damian, patron saints of the parish church of Clervaux. The interior of the church is no less elaborate than its exterior in spite of the somewhat austere character of its Romanesque pillars, capitals and vaults. The apse is entirely made of marble and its dome is sumptuously decorated with artistic paintings and beautiful mosaics. The altars, the pulpit, the communion table and the Stations of the Cross are original masterpieces by the famous sculptor Piedboeuf of Aachen.(extrait du guide touristique: Clervaux en Ardennes)
